Happy Spring!

It looks like the nice weather is here to stay and the days are getting longer. The longer days mean hours of natural light available for quilting even after you get home from work. If you are looking for some projects to fill those hours, we have lots of exciting news this quarter, some great classes, new teachers and lots of exciting events planned.

Get ready to party! We are turning 20 this year. Plan to join us on June 7 for a slice of birthday cake and other special treats.

Although our actual birthday is June 15 we will be celebrating on June 7 because on June 15 we will be having a different celebration. Husqvarna Viking will be unveiling their new top of the line sewing and embroidery machine in a live web cast from their International Convention. Come share in the excitement! We will be hosting the live web cast in our store on June 15. Be one of the first to see the new machine. Jacki and I will actually be in San Antonio at the convention. You will be seeing the Grand unveiling of Husqvarna Viking’s latest jewel at the same time as the dealers attending the convention, along with sewing enthusiasts all over the world. Refreshments will be served.

In fact the month of June is shaping up to be one big party! Join us Wednesday evening, June 25 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm for What’s New from Husqvarna Viking. Come see all the new products introduced at the Husqvarna Viking International Convention, including the fabulous new Top of the Line Sewing and Embroidery Machine.

We have some new teachers joining us this quarter. Please welcome Julie Lambert (teaching Feathers and Grids), Rosemarie Woodward (teaching Fancy Band Pillowcases) and Sheila Williams (teaching EQ6 from Electric Quilt). Be sure to check out their class offerings!

At Luella’s Quilt Basket, we are committed to “going green”. See the Green Day box elsewhere in the newsletter to see what we’re doing.

Join us for one of our ever-popular Temecula Retreats. The August Retreat is filling up, but at press time there were still openings. The dates are August 7-10.

Hoffman has designed a special fabric for the Run this year. It is a beautiful rendition of Southern California landmarks and is exclusive to the shops on the Run.You don't have to be going on the Run to want this fabric. Pre-order yours today.

Join us for the debut of the Summer International Quilt Festival in Long Beach this summer. This inaugural event will be held July 25-27 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Stop in and say “Hi!” to us in the vendor mall.

We are excited to welcome Kathleen Ackley back for a visit. She will be teaching a class for us on Tuesday, July 29. More details elsewhere in the newsletter.

Just a reminder: Because of Copyright Laws, when we teach a class from a book, pattern, magazine, etc., we must require each student in the class to purchase their own copy. We appreciate your cooperation in this and so do the designers of the wonderful quilts and other projects that we teach. Selling their patterns or books is the way they make their living, so abiding by copyright laws means that they can continue to design their wonderful projects. Of course, copyrights also apply to embroidery designs, as well.
