It’s that time again! Gather up some friends, gas up the car
and get ready for the Southern California Quilter’s RUN.
There are 38 shops participating this year and we have a fun
Run planned for you. The Quilter’s Run takes place on two
long weekends, Thursday, June 17 through Sunday, June
20 and Thursday, June 24 through Sunday, June 27. Note
that this is earlier than the last several years.
We are thrilled to announce that Sue Hausmann, hostess of
the popular America Sews TV show will be visiting our store
in September for an exciting all day event: Sew and Quilt
with Sue. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled day of
Sue’s tips, techniques and projects, so be sure to check out
the details elsewhere in this newsletter and sign up today!
We are having lots of fun with the Through the Seasons
Block of the Month. If you missed out on that one, we have
some more Block of the Month programs starting. We will
be starting the beautiful Tonga Back to Nature block of the
month in May. The Tonga batik fabrics in this quilt are so
beautiful, you feel like you are in a quiet and peaceful forest!
And for something different, Nina Anderson will be hosting a
sit and sew Block of the Month program. From choosing
your fabrics to cutting and piecing your blocks and putting it
all together, you will do it all right here with Nina’s help
every step of the way. Later in the year, we will begin our
English Pathways Block of the Month, but we are accepting
sign-ups on an interest list. We will have a limited number
of kits available, so sign up today if you are interested.
The Summer International Quilt Festival is coming to Long
Beach again this summer. Quilts, Inc. always puts on a fabulous
show, so be sure to head on down to the Long Beach
Convention Center on July 23-25.
We still have openings on our August Temecula Retreat on
August 12-15, so call to sign up if you are interested. We
hadn’t scheduled the dates for the April, 2011 retreat as of
press time, so check with us after April 15 for the dates for
that retreat. We’d love to have you join us!
By popular demand, we have scheduled both a day and evening
4D Embroidery and Embroidery Extra software training
class on June 7. (I know my brain doesn’t work as well
at night, especially when working with software!)
If you have a young person in your life who wants to learn
how to sew or already knows how to and wants to spend
some time with other kids who enjoy it, be sure to check out
our Kidz Kamp. We have three different weeks available this
year.
