Julie Lambert shares
Feathers and Grids
If you would like to improve your machine quilting, we have the
perfect class for you on Saturday, June 21. Julie Lambert will
be visiting us from Kentucky to teach Advanced Machine Quilting.
She will be teaching all the intricacies of Feathers and
Grids.
Julie began quilting in 1985 thinking that all quilts should be
hand quilted. That changed in 1988 when she saw Harriet Hargrave's
quilts. Julie's specialty is machine quilting on her sewing
machie. Her quilts have been juried into national shows including
Paducah and Houston. She received Best Machine Quilting
awards from Road to California in 1997 and 1998, from Quilt
America! in 1999, from the MN Quilt Show Inspirations in 2002
and from Quilt Odyssey in 2002. You must come in and see her
sample! If you would like to see more of Julie's work, go to her
website: www.julieylambert.com

Quilter’s Run 2008
It’s time again for the annual Southern California Quilter’s
Run. The Run this year will be held on two long weekends,
Thursday-Sunday, July 10-13 and 17-20. This year we are
celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Quilter’s Run so we have
lots of special things planned for you. Gather some friends and
get ready to go!
All you have to do to get started is pick up a passport at any of
the 39 participating shops (but not before 9 am on July 10).
Have your passport stamped at each shop you visit. Receive a
clue for the special quilt from each shop. Visit all the shops in
an area and get all the clues for the area quilt. Visit all 39 shops

Long Beach this July. This is brought to you by the folks who put
on the very successful International Quilt Festival in Houston every
year in October. Quilts, Inc. has promised many special features to
make this inaugural show a not-to-be-missed event, so be sure to
save July 25-27 for this fabulous show! And your favorite quilt

Electric Quilt 6
If you would like to try your hand at computer aided quilt design using
Electric Quilt or you already own EQ6, don’t plan anything else for Saturday,
May 31. Sheila Williams, Electric Quilt teacher extraordinaire, will teach an all
day beginning class on EQ6.
EQ6 is the newest, most advanced yet most user-friendly version of the best selling Electric
Quilt software. Use EQ6 to accomplish all aspects of designing quilts: drawing blocks, laying out the
quilts (including auditioning fabrics, embroidery, photos and quilting designs) and print out patterns
with cutting instructions and yardage requirements. EQ6 was designed with both beginners and advanced
designers in mind. We have also scheduled an Intermediate class on October 18, so you can
go on to the next step after a little practice.
Sheila has been teaching quilt design software programs for many years. When she started
quilting, she was told she would learn how to make her templates using graph paper. Since she spent
many hours using graph paper in her “day job” as a Combat Support Chief for the Marine Corps she
wanted to find a different way to spend her off duty time. After a some research she discovered a
computer program to make her templates for her. She started off teaching friends how to use their
quilt design software. When she retired from the Marine Corps, she started her computer consulting
business. She now conducts lectures, workshops, demos and classes on quilting design software as
well as many other types of computer consulting.
Sheila will have a limited number of computers available for rent to
try before you buy (or if you don’t have your own laptop to bring for class).

Luella’s Strip Club
Join Luella’s Strip Club and start strippin’ with us!
Of course, we mean fabric stripping (what else?). There’s no cover charge at Luella’s Strip
Club. Every other month we will unveil the latest Strip Club project. Everyone who attends
will receive a free pattern that uses 2½ inch strips and a quick overview of the project directions.
We will also have pre-cut fabric strip bundles available that are ready for you to sub-cut and
sew! If you pre-order your fabric bundle, you will receive a $5 discount. (Please note: to
receive your $5 discount, you must order your fabric bundle at least 2 weeks before the scheduled Strip Club
meeting). There will be a limited
number of fabric bundles. The fabric choices will be on display so you will know if you
want to strip that month! Please pre-order so that you are not disappointed.
The fine print: You must attend the Strip Club meeting to receive your free pattern, but you may purchase
the pattern for $5 if you are unable to attend. There is no membership fee for Luella’s Strip Club and no
long term commitment. Come to whichever meetings fit into your schedule or interests, but you must sign
up in advance to guarantee pattern or fabric availability.
Luella’s Strip Club will meet on
Saturdays at 9:00 am
February 2 and April 12
Strip bundles must be pre-ordered by
January 19 and March 22
to receive $5 discount.
Strip bundles not reserved by
January 19 and March 22
will be available for $40 after those dates.

Texas a few years ago, but we are pleased
that she is able to visit us for a short time
